As a classical musician, it is easy to appreciate the moments when medicine is more art than science.

They are usually subtle, and can appear unceremoniously in a way that cannot be captured in treatment algorithms, textbooks or lecture halls. I have seen it in the non-verbal cues of an OB anesthesiologist during a cesarean section, gently checking in with a patient whose eyes begin to water at the sound of their newborn’s cries. You feel it when a classmate quietly gasps while a preceptor demonstrates a seemingly effortless technique that nearly always guarantees intravenous access.

We live in a time where nerds are cool, but I like think it's always been that way and the rest of the mainstream world is only starting to notice it. This space serves as a growing collection of things that capture my inner nerd and creativity both inside and out of the clinical setting.
